Popular when fasting: Epsom salt and Glauber's salt
Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) is a magnesium salt of sulfuric acid. Glauber's salt (sodium sulphate) was discovered in the 17th century by the German physician, pharmacist and chemist Johann Rudolph Glauber. He made it from common salt and sulfuric acid. Colloquially, it is also known under the term sodium sulphate or as Schuessler salt no. 10.
Epsom salt and Glauber's salt have similar properties. Both bind water in the intestine, which increases the proportion of liquid in the intestine.
