Saw Palmetto
The saw palmetto (Serenoa repens) is a species of palm tree native to the southeastern United States. It is also known as Sabal serrulata. The bitter-tasting fruit of the saw palmetto belongs to the stone fruits, which also include the peach or the cherry.
Ingredients of saw palmetto fruit
The main components of saw palmetto fruit are phytosterols (including beta-sitosterol) and fatty acids, including caproic acid, lauric acid, myristic acid, caprylic acid, palmitic acid and oleic acid. The fruit is also rich in flavonoids, polysaccharides and essential oil.
