Guarana is obtained from the seeds of the liana plant Paullinia cupana. The guarana plant grows up to 12 meters high and comes from Brazil and the other regions of the Amazon. It bears orange-yellow to red fruits containing one or two seeds.
The word guarana comes from the Paraguayan word guara-ná, which goes back to the word warana and means "plant like the eyes of the people".
Ingredients of Guarana
Apart from guaranine (guarana caffeine), guarana seeds contain other vital substances which, taken as a whole, can have positive properties for body and mind. Here tannins, theophylline, theobromine but also saponins are worth mentioning.
The tannins ensure that the guarana caffeine spreads more slowly in the human organism. Guarana's stimulating properties begin gently and slowly. Therefore, the awakening effect lasts much longer than you are used to from enjoying coffee.
