Carbohydrates are converted into glucose

Carbohydrates belong to the macronutrients and are an important source of energy for the body. They occur in food in saccharide chains of different lengths and are referred to as monosaccharides, disaccharides, trisaccharides, oligosaccharides or polysaccharides depending on the number of saccharides.

During the normal digestive process, the body converts carbohydrates from potatoes or pasta, for example, into the simple sugar glucose.
