Branched-chain amino acids (engl. branched-chain amino acids, BCAAs) are often used as dietary supplements for endurance sports or weight training. They play a decisive role in the energy balance of the muscles and, unlike other amino acids, are converted directly in the muscle cells into the main components alanine and glutamine.
