Vitamin K is one of the fat-soluble vitamins and occurs in various natural forms. The best known include vitamin K1 (phylloquinone) and vitamin K2 (menaquinone). While vitamin K1 is found mainly in green leafy vegetables such as spinach, kale and broccoli, vitamin K2 is found in fermented foods, among others. Both forms belong to the same vitamin family but differ in their chemical structure and natural occurrence.
A special feature of vitamin K1 is its close connection with green plants. There it is part of photosynthesis and plays a role in the transfer of electrons. This is why vegetables particularly rich in chlorophyll often contain larger amounts of phylloquinone. For the human body, vitamin K is important above all in connection with normal blood clotting and the maintenance of normal bones.
Vitamin K2 comprises a group of different menaquinones that are distinguished by their side chains. Particularly well known is menaquinone-7 (MK-7), which occurs, for example, in natto, a traditional Japanese food made from fermented soybeans. During fermentation, the activity of certain microorganisms produces characteristic ingredients, including vitamin K2. The different forms of vitamin K differ, among other things, in how long they remain in the body.
In the human body, vitamin K is needed to activate certain vitamin K-dependent proteins. These include both clotting factors and proteins that play a role in bone metabolism. One of these is osteocalcin, a protein of the bone matrix. As vitamin K is fat-soluble, it is absorbed in the gut together with dietary fats. Fairvital Vitamin K Complex combines vitamin K1 with vitamin K2 in the form of MK-7 and thus brings together two different members of this vitamin family.

Bleibt bei mir dabei, für Knochen und Muskeln
K2 nehme ich gern zusammen mit D3, weil ich beim Thema Knochen auf die Kombination achte. Vitamin K2 passt gut in meine morgendliche Einnahme.

Für aktive Wochen ausgesucht
Wenn Sport, Arbeit und viel Zeit draußen zusammenkommen, möchte ich meine Mineralstoffversorgung nicht dem Zufall überlassen. Spannend fand ich beim Nachlesen vor allem die Themen Muskeln und Knochen. Für mich passt eine klare Mineralstofflösung besser als ein weiterer großer Mix im Schrank.

Blutgerinnung und Knochen – ungewöhnlich unterschiedliche Aufgaben
Genau das fand ich bei Vitamin K überraschend. Dass dasselbe Vitamin sowohl zu einer normalen Blutgerinnung als auch zur Erhaltung normaler Knochen beiträgt, hatte ich vorher nicht auf dem Schirm. Dadurch wurde der K1-&-K2-Komplex für mich deutlich interessanter.

Im Ernährungsseminar wieder daran erinnert
Das Thema Mineralstoffe kam in einem Ernährungsseminar auf und danach habe ich zuhause meine bisherigen Produkte einmal kritisch angeschaut. Ich wollte vor allem die Themen Muskeln und Knochen bewusster in meiner Auswahl berücksichtigen.

Meine Mutter hat mich mit ihrer Osteoporose-Vorsorge auf das Thema gebracht
Dadurch haben wir irgendwann über Calcium, Vitamin D und schließlich auch Vitamin K gesprochen. Für mich war überraschend, dass Vitamin K einen anerkannten Beitrag zur Erhaltung normaler Knochen leistet. Der K1-&-K2-Komplex war deshalb bei meiner nächsten Auswahl deutlich interessanter als früher.
