Healthy and Fit Through the Summer

Litti's Tips for Nutrition in the Hot Season

I love summer! There is so much to do: bike rides, trips to nature, hikes, and all of it in fantastic weather.
If you haven't already planned a barbecue with friends, the question arises, "What should I eat today?" In summer, it's normal to have less appetite for large portions. On the other hand, it's still important to eat healthily and get enough essential nutrients to start the day full of energy!

Hydration is Key

I can’t say it often enough: Drink plenty of water! Especially in warm temperatures, our body loses a lot of fluids through sweating. I often find that plain water can get boring after a while. That’s why I like to opt for unsweetened herbal teas or diluted fruit juices. I find mint tea particularly refreshing in the summer—just pour hot water over a few mint leaves and

Light Meals for Hot Days

Thinking of a pork knuckle in the summer? Unimaginable for me! On hot days, I prefer lighter meals. Heavy, greasy foods burden the stomach and lower my energy levels. Instead, I opt for salads, cold soups, or grilled vegetables. One of my favorites is a colorful salad with grilled chicken or fish. It’s not only delicious but also easy to digest. And the fresh fruits and vegetables available in summer are simply unbeatable. They are rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, which support my immune system and keep me hydrated.

Healthy Snacks for Between Meals

Three large meals a day? In the summer, I prefer switching to healthy snacks. Fresh fruits, nuts, yogurt, or vegetable sticks with hummus are perfect for on the go. If I crave something sweet, I like to make a smoothie or frozen fruit skewers. Cold soups like Gazpacho are also a great way to cool down and provide the body with energy and nutrients without overloading it.

Food Safety Considerations

A particularly important point: Pay extra attention to food safety! In warm weather, bacteria multiply faster. Therefore, I always store food in the refrigerator and avoid leaving raw foods outside for too long. I wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly before consumption. Especially when grilling, I ensure that the meat is cooked thoroughly to avoid unpleasant surprises.

A healthy diet is the key to an active and happy life – on and off the field. Let’s use the summer to provide our bodies with everything they need to stay in top shape!
