In Asia, Shiitake has been used as a food and as a vital mushroom for thousands of years. The fungus is found in nature, mainly in forests on the bark of trees. Shiitake mushrooms for industrial use are grown in greenhouses.
Fairvital's shiitake extract is standardized to 30% polysaccharides. The standardization of a plant extract for the corresponding active ingredient content ensures that a product has consistent properties and also indicates first-class quality.
What are polysaccharides?
Polysaccharides, also called glycans, are multiple sugars that belong to the subgroup of carbohydrates and have different and specific properties.
Beta-glucans, for example, are in oats, wheat, algae and yeast. However, mushrooms primarily contain the greatest diversity.
Ingredients of the shiitake capsules
In addition to vitamins and minerals, shiitake contains a variety of organic substances such as glutamates, nucleotides, amino acids, peptides, organic acids and sugar compounds. Of particular importance are lentinan and the alkaloid eritadenine.
