Phenylalanine - essential amino acid
Phenylalanine, a proteinogenic amino acid, contributes to the construction of important endogenous proteins, hormones and neurotransmitters. These include, for example, insulin, papain, tryptophan, the thyroid hormone thyroxine and the skin pigment melanin.
