Cat’s claw (Uncaria tomentosa) is a plant from the Rubiaceae family, mainly found in the rainforests of South America. It owes its name to the curved thorns that resemble cat claws.

Katzenkralle (Uncaria tomentosa) – Die tropische Kletterpflanze stammt aus dem Amazonasgebiet. Ihren Namen verdankt sie hakenförmigen Dornen, mit denen sie sich an anderen Pflanzen festhalten kann.
Zu den natürlichen Inhaltsstoffen gehören je nach Rohstoff unterschiedliche Verbindungen. Zu den untersuchten Inhaltsstoffen gehören verschiedene Oxindolalkaloide und Polyphenole. Die Zusammensetzung kann sich je nach verwendetem Pflanzenteil und Extraktionsverfahren unterscheiden.
Vitamin C ist ein wasserlösliches Vitamin, das der Mensch im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen Säugetieren nicht selbst herstellen kann. Natürliche Quellen sind unter anderem Paprika, Beeren, Kohl und Zitrusfrüchte.
