Betaine is able to break down homocysteine
Because homocysteine is able to do a lot of damage to the vascular and nervous system, it is recommended to keep the homocysteine level in the blood as low as possible. Betaine HCl by Fairvital can help with that.
One if the many damages homocysteine can cause is reducing the formation of nitric oxide and at the same time producing aggressive oxygen radicals (H2O2).
The positive effect on homocysteine metabolism is achieved with a daily intake of 1.5 g betaine.
Betaine HCl for healthy blood vessels
Homocysteine affects the inner layer (Tunica intima) of the vessels. Their smooth surface is essential for a good circulation. If this inner layer is injured, for example by homocysteine, blood platelets and fibrin start depositing, which reduces the permeability of the blood vessels. If oxidised LDL cholesterol and calcium deposit there too, the blood vessels lose their flexibility which leads to hardening of the blood vessels.
Furthermore, a high homocysteine level in the blood can interfere with the synthesis of the neurotransmitters in the brain, damage receptors and impair the neural function in general, so the transmission of stimuli functions is limited.
Betaine HCl: natural gastric acid
For people who have only little gastric acid, betaine hydrochloride (HCl) can be a source of hydrochloric acid, which helps to maintain a normal acidity in the stomach.
