Recognising and treating heart muscle inflammation

Inflammation of the heart muscle can be accompanied by completely untypical symptoms. Often, myocarditis – as the technical term is – occurs after various other infections. Viruses and bacteria are considered to be the cause. But poisoning or autoimmune diseases can also lead to myocarditis.

Symptoms of myocarditis

The symptoms often resemble a simple infection. In case of severe fatigue, shortness of breath, chest pain or heart palpitations, a doctor should be consulted urgently. If you also have a gastrointestinal or flu-like infection, it could be myocarditis. Other signs include dizziness or water retention in the legs. If you notice any of these symptoms, see a doctor!

Supporting Heart Health

Small changes are often enough to strengthen the heart. Reduce your intake of salt, sugar and alcohol and exercise regularly. You can replace salt wonderfully with herbs. Use stevia instead of sugar.

A few other preventive measures can contribute to good heart health.

For example, the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA contribute to normal heart function.

Omega-3 fatty acids are found primarily in various types of fish and krill.

Thiamine and thiamine are also important for heart health.

Thiamine also contributes to normal heart function. Thiamine is found in whole-grain products as well as in seeds and pork. Why not include sunflower or pine nuts as well as legumes such as peas in your diet! A balanced diet and regular exercise are immensely important. Overweight should be avoided or reduced.

A flexitarian eats mainly high-quality products. They eat less often, but eat higher quality meat, e.g. from organic farms. For the sake of your heart, do without highly processed meat products such as sausages or spreads!

The heart is a muscle that you can exercise. As with other muscles, regular exercise can help. Why not take a short walk in the fresh air every day? Even in colder temperatures! Remember: There is no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing!
